The Relationship Between Recycling and the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Greenhouse gas emissions are known to be directly related to the perceived heightened warming of the earth’s oceans and near-surface air. But how does recycling help in cutting back on greenhouse gas emissions?

Recycling is used to refer to the reprocessing of previously manufactured products (such as plastic bottles) so that their core elements (in this case, the plastic substances that make up plastic bottles) can be used to make new products later on. It should be clarified that recycling is different from re-use, because the latter simply means that the previously manufactured product (such as a plastic bottle) will be used for other purposes aside from its original use (such as when a plastic bottle is cut in half and then converted into a plant container.)

When previously manufactured products are recycled, this helps in reducing the amount of energy used to produce new products (compared to “virgin production” where products that are manufactured from substances that were taken purely from the earth’s environment – also known as raw materials.) One substance that has been quite damaging to the environment is plastic, because it does not degrade and become re-absorbed into the environment. There is also less waste that goes into disposal systems such as landfills when recycling is put into play.

When products are recycled, there is less need to look for raw materials from virgin sources. For example, aluminum is one substance which can be recycled over and over again without a decline in the quality of the substance. When plastic is recycled, up to 70% of energy is saved. If paper is the substance being recycled, up to 40% of energy is saved. When less energy is used to produce a product, that means less greenhouse gases are emitted into the atmosphere, which helps reduce the impact on the environment through the greenhouse effect.

Energy is also saved because there is less of the virgin or raw materials that has to be sought after, there is less energy needed to transport these virgin materials from their original sources, and there is less energy to be expended trying to clean up the environment when pollutants like non-biodegradable aluminum and plastic containers are dumped into landfills.

Some criticize recycling since there is still a level of energy required to transport recyclables to recycling centers and recycling plants, and in the recycling process itself. However, the energy savings derived from recycling are considerable, and much less energy will be used to make new products from recyclables compared to the use of virgin materials for manufacturing new products. Another criticism is that recycling can become impractical because the cumulative costs for recycling a certain product may outweigh the environmental benefits derived from recycling.

Despite such criticisms, it is generally accepted nowadays that recycling does help the environment by significantly reducing demands on energy supplies, so that less greenhouse gases are emitted, and can be a cost-effective solution in certain cases.

Home Solar Energy – 3 Myths Dispelled

While going solar steadily grows in popularity, myths about using solar energy for the home persist. Dispelling these myths and learning the facts frees you to embrace a clean, abundant, and efficient energy source.

Now let’s deal with the three myths.

1. Residential solar power systems are too expensive. Let’s address the expense of a home solar power system. The truth is a home solar energy system could be expensive. Without doing your homework first, buying and installing a photovoltaic (PV) system to replace current home energy consumption stretches the budget of the average American.

However, you have complete control of the initial cost of a solar energy system. You have no control over the rapidly increasing cost of oil and natural gas.

The good news is there are ways to make solar energy available to every budget. A few simple steps can bring solar energy in line with your budget.

Reduce energy consumption,Improve home energy efficiency, Take advantage of renewable energy tax incentives and rebates that apply in your area.

Thoughtless energy consumption habits are a thing of the past. It is neither environmentally safe nor economical feasible to continue our caviler attitude of energy consumption. It benefits all of us to acquire and practice new energy consumption habits.

Begin with some easy habits. Turn your thermostat up in summer and down in winter. Switch to compact fluorescent light blubs (CFLs). Lower the thermostat on your hot water heater to 120 degrees. Take short showers instead of baths. Wash clothes in cold water.

Increasing your home’s energy efficiency is an extremely cost effective step to going solar. Get a professional home energy audit. An energy professional can tell you where you home loses energy and what efficiency improvements you can make. Depending on your home, improvements could mean more insulation, upgrading to energy efficient windows, or sealing air leaks around doors and soffits.

Next, investigate the renewable energy tax incentives and rebates. Congress just passed into law Incentives Tax Credits (ITC) for residential and business solar systems. The price of a solar energy system could be reduced by as much as 30 percent. Each state has its own rebate plans as well.Remember: the least expensive steps make the biggest impact on the final cost of a solar system.

2. Solar energy does not work on cloudy days. What about solar energy systems on cloudy days? As long as there is some light, solar panels produce electricity. That means even on cloudy days. Panels do produce proportionately less energy on cloudy days but they still work.

Obviously, solar panels produce more energy from direct sunlight during sunny days. It is true that atmosphere, sun angle, and distance affect the amount of sunlight a solar panel receives.Weather patterns like clouds, fog, rain, and falling snow diminish the amount of solar energy that can be captured.

Latitude, time of day, and time of year also affect the amount of sunlight. Logically, the Northeastern US needs more panels to produce the same energy as those same panels placed in California where there are more direct sunlight days. Geographic location also comes into play when incorporating solar power.

Yet, consider this cloudy climate. Germany has half the average sun hours as the USA. Two-thirds of all daylight hours in Germany are cloud covered. It rains there year round. Yet Germany managed to become the world’s leader in solar power generation. Last year almost half the solar electricity produced in the world was produced in Germany.

No matter where you live, solar power can be part of your energy source. Work with a local solar professional to determine the best solar options for your home, in your location.

3. Solar energy is inefficient. How efficient is solar energy? Energy efficiency is a delicate balance between economic costs, benefit for the environment, and available supplies. It must be financially affordable, good for our planet and its inhabitants, and in abundant supply.

Seen from a strictly financial point of view, coal is the least expensive electrical energy source. On an energy-per-Btu basis, coal is also the least expensive fossil fuel. But adding the environment to the equation, coal is a major source of air pollution and greenhouse gases.

Efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) power increases dramatically with gains in PV technology. Still, commonly available solar PV panels produce electric energy at a 15% efficiency rate. That sounds low, right?

But consider there are no harmful air pollutants released into the air. Neither can we run out of solar energy. Technological advances as well as incentive tax credits continue to reduce the price of solar energy systems.

Now that three major barriers to a home solar energy system are demystified, you can pursue a clean, abundant, and efficient energy source for your home. You know it is possible to reduce the expense of solar energy, that solar panels do work on cloudy days, and that the most efficient energy source is one that will never run out.

Chairman of the Board Guo Fansheng HC network: equity incentive Art – solar energy, business, busine

Board Chairman HC Network Guo FanshengSolar Net HC On the incentive, I have asked many questions, for classification of them, you can see, people are concerned about focus on three points: first, how much is appropriate; second, to any person; Third, how to. These three issues are the most important details.

To the number of suitable Old saying says: “Sheng Min, Doo-meter revenge.” So, “a number” of this degree is difficult to grasp. I can say is give people who have to work happy, even shocked, this is the goal. I do not want and people who work too much bargaining.

In the early stages of my business, I have thought about what percentage of the labor to staff the appropriate dividend, but also moving too small for them 10%, 10% of their thoughts on the multisection. I also thought to how important it is important to complete all must be happy. This happy must not be forced, should be sent from our heart. I would like to let you great pleasure, sure to shock even the beginning can not believe we go. So, you set 30%, 40%, we will be pleased, but will not be surprising big happy, so I set the 70% ratio. Some people would say, Do not work 60% on it? Indeed, 60% were not too low, but we will be much lower degrees of shock.

Results, so to go out, most people skeptical, and some people do not believe it, even took away bonuses to resign, I fear that the money given to her again to go back. But I persevered, and the results shocked into a trust, trust as a cultural form.

Of course, can not just shocked to see the ratio of the absolute value depends on how much. I was just business, the company pitifully small, the ratio you give is not high, they did not attract other people, fail to gather popular purposes. I have a friend, financing 20%, taking into 100 million U.S. dollars, when he took 10% of the lot, and everybody will be shocked.

In fact, to the number of issues, not a quantitative concept, is a cultural concept. Because, under the initiative of a culture, a culture in another there may be a crime. In some countries, such as allowing a man to marry four wives, that means competent and honor, but in China it is criminal.

Such companies have 50 million yuan of profits, 50% owner of the shares, he can take home to 25 million yuan of profits, which in the capital economy, society, ethical standards in the industrialized under no problem. If the angle to determine the knowledge economy, employers should ask themselves: “This is my 25 million yuan to create it? Take back the 25 million yuan fair to employees? Companies can develop it?” From a different cultural perspective to do this thing, the feel and the results are not the same. I do a company, the first thought is how much the others, not themselves take the first number. Not so much to others, to less than satisfied with others, do not do this thing. This has become my habit of a culture.

If you really clear understanding that the company you invested one million yuan venture, employing hundreds of people, the last half of the 50 million yuan of profits away, This is theft, no different. It shows that you reach out to well to get the right state, you “give” on the inflow of the culture. Only in the inflow to the culture, to give art, give energy, give unity and gives hope. Now some employers to employees as to the commission as sub-unit calculations, always ask if I was not being paid to how to do, how to do his money away. This is not to have any good results, because to the minds of unhappy people, holding understand that they must not be satisfied, but to come to the enemy to give into. By the knowledge economy and cultural standards, not you actually give employees, you give staff had was his, is the capital system is unreasonable to put you his name, you are returned to the people other people’s stuff. Only with that attitude could do a good job. You want to volunteer, you put it as an entrepreneur with social communication, integrated into society, a basic view of moral standards. This is for the number of suitable premises.

“Benefits of Renewable Energy”

With modern day concern that global warming is for real there is an increasing demand by business and householders for information on the renewable energy options that are available. This review looks at the different types of renewable energy options and advises on what may be the best for most peoples needs.

Renewable energy can be described as a form of sustainable energy that is a product of the earth’s natural environment. Any source of energy that can provide an ongoing flow and/or be replaced by nature falls into the category of renewable energy. Where as fossil fuels are in limited or finite supply, the supply of renewable energy will never be totally exhausted. The various sources of renewable energy include solar, wind, water, biomass, wood waste, geothermal, photovoltaic, and solar thermal energy.

Energy is such an essential requirement of our daily lives that we all have to take it seriously. Energy is needed to provide lighting, heating, air conditioning, cooking, transport and to power all the technologies in the family home or business premises. The benefits of renewable energy can make a real contribution in most of these areas of energy usage.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of renewable energy is the potential for it to provide clean sources of power generation that is also affordable for both home owners and businesses. Secondly, in the case of solar energy, the maintenance required is low as cleaning of the panels is low cost and relatively easy. Businesses benefit from a clean energy image that renewable presents through its ability to reduce pollution and have a positive effect on the environment. Home owners can benefit from such renewable energy concepts as solar powered lighting for walkways and solar covers on swimming pools.

While particularly in countries with strong sunlight, solar hot water systems are great for a cleaner low cost water heating system. Furthermore, in many areas of the world governments now offer generous rebates for solar energy installations and power generators will often agree to buy excess power from households with their own solar electricity installations. The “benefits of renewable energy” are real.

Many people considering a renewable energy installation may wonder whether to choose solar or wind energy. In the case of businesses, urban locations have a number of problems for wind energy:

- Lack of wind speed

- Council or planning restrictions; and

- Buildings not designed to withstand the level of vibration that wind turbines can cause.

- Suburban and inner city homes face similar problems with wind energy:

- Government planning restrictions

- The unreliability of urban wind speeds and consistency; and

- Structural problems with attachment of wind turbines to a home.

As a result, solar energy through the use of solar panels would be the best option for businesses and home owners alike.

As more people decide to take the initiative and do something to contribute to a greener future, a home with green energy http://app-products-info.webs.com will become a big advantage when selling. International surveys indicate that buyers will pay up to a minimum of 5 per cent more for a home with solar/renewable energy compared to a low energy assessment rating. This is because energy pricing is becoming a real consideration in all areas of construction. This is yet another reason to consider the “benefits of renewable energy” option.

The Solar Wave Is Coming

Well we are doing just that right now, the money that can be saved by harnessing this source is mind boggling, but that is just the tip of the iceberg, can you image the money to be made, and that’s what The Success Solar Group’s objective is all about, saving money and making money, we know how, were doing it right now, we want to share this knowledge with you, we want to show you how.

The sun is an abundant energy source that will last… well scientist’s say millions if not billions of years, so I’d say were covered for awhile.  The technology is coming out so fast, the government is being requested for patents at an alarming rate, and some patents have been classified. The point is the technology is right around the corner that will capture and store this energy and this will create a market that will be ripe for everyone on this planet to get aboard and save money, and more important make money.

For too long we have been playing this oil game and our country has been losing, losing to other countries that have no vested interest in The United States, well we do, and its our sovereign right to harness this source and We’ve all heard, many seen the 2012 movie, articles, hype, about the coming of 2012, I have seen the movies it was a lot of fun, solar storms erupting and sending cosmic radiation to earth etc etc.  But solar energy is real and there are a lot of companies out there developing way to harness that energy, just think of it, there’s a lot of free energy being poured out on this planet, the year is 2010 and we have not tapped this source yet?

use it to bettor our country and living standards, and who says we can’t make money too.

The Success Solar Group is doing just that, were proactive about taking advantage of the sun as a source of cheap energy and getting this country back to work again.  We understand the hardships of our fellow country men, how our country has taken a loss ever since we found ourselves at the losing end of the oil game, but that is over, it was innovation that made this country and we need to reclaim that edge.

People are starting to realize and are making the changes necessary to make they’re homes and businesses solar efficient with solar systems, solar panels, solar service.

Photovoltaic Part Of The New Wave

Photovoltaics (PV) is a method of generating electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity using semiconductors that exhibit the photovoltaic effect. Photovoltaic power generation employs solar panels comprising a number of cells containing a photovoltaic material. Materials presently used for photovoltaics include monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, cadmium telluride, and copper indium selenide/sulfide. Due to the growing demand for renewable energy sources, the manufacture of solar cells and photovoltaic arrays has advanced considerably in recent years.

As of 2010, solar photovoltaics generates electricity in more than 100 countries and, while yet comprising a tiny fraction of the 4800 GW total global power-generating capacity from all sources, is the fastest growing power-generation technology in the world. Between 2004 and 2009, grid-connected PV capacity increased at an annual average rate of 60 percent, to some 21 GW. Such installations may be ground-mounted (and sometimes integrated with farming and grazing) or built into the roof or walls of a building, known as Building Integrated Photovoltaics or BIPV for short. Off-grid PV accounts for an additional 3–4 GW.

Driven by advances in technology and increases in manufacturing scale and sophistication, the cost of photovoltaics has declined steadily since the first solar cells were manufactured. Net metering and financial incentives, such as preferential feed-in tariffs for solar-generated electricity, have supported solar PV installations in many countries.

Nitric Acid: Exacerbating Climate Change And Furthering Its Effect To The Atmosphere

Nitric acid is one of the top chemicals in production around the world. Its primary application is in the manufacture of nitrogen-based fertilizers. It is also used in explosives, metallurgy, dyes, plastics, and pharmaceuticals. Other minor applications include water treatment, fibers and polymers manufacture, liquid-propellant for rockets, printmaking, and nuclear fuel reprocessing.

Human-influenced sources may account for as much as 40% of the total NOx released into the atmosphere. The laughing gas, nitrous oxide (N2O), is approximately accountable to 7% of the greenhouse gases. The concentration of nitrous oxide in the atmosphere has significantly increased from the pre-industrial period as compared in the last two decades.

As a waste by-product of nitric acid production, oxides of nitrogen (NOx) are very harmful to the environment and they can also aggravate the effects of climate change. Emissions from nitric acid manufacturing plants may not be as significant as those of combustion of fossil fuels but a small difference in the levels of nitrogen oxides released into the atmosphere will mean a big difference since they are very harmful greenhouse gases.

Biofuels are also contributors to nitrous oxide. Contrary to popular belief, a report from the International Council for Science (ICSU) concludes that biofuel production can aggravate global warming rather than alleviating its effects. The theory is that annual plants and crops such as corn, wheat and sugar cane take up carbon dioxide during their growth. Hence, fuels burned from them have no significant carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere.

The same study also supported an earlier finding which determined that nitrous oxide has a more harmful effect on the environment and the climate change phenomenon than previously believed. The ability of nitrous oxide in warming up the planet is 300 times more than carbon dioxide. It also stays longer in the atmosphere.

Nitrous oxide is a natural occurring gas in the atmosphere as a result of the nitrogen cycle but it is the rate at which its concentration increases and the factors which contribute to this increase that worries scientists and environmentalists. One of the greatest factors which most of them have seen is the anthropogenic sources such as nitric acid manufacturing plants.

Greenhouse effects cannot be ignored anymore. Climate change is upon us. The weather has become even more unpredictable than before. Studies have also identified that the main cause of this phenomenon are unchecked and negligent human practices.

As a result of industrialization, comforts have been afforded to us, such as electricity, transport, and other luxuries we now enjoy. But this comes with a price, the warming up of the planet.

Is this really worth it? Can we really afford the unpredictability of the weather today, the increase in intensity of natural disasters? The world has certainly begun to experience the effects of the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere by the higher than normal temperatures, the melting of the polar ice caps and the rising sea levels.

We have to make a move now. A move to reduce our impacts on the environment, this especially goes to those who are in the position to make a significant change in reducing nitric acid production by-products. Owners and managers of plants and companies which use nitric acid must have proper processing and disposal strategies which are environment friendly.

But the responsibility doesn’t stop there. We must do our part as well. We are also stakeholders therefore we have to take responsibility. One thing is for sure though, we have to start today. This is because of the fact that the planet will continue to warm up for no less than 150 years due residence time of carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. It will take a long, long time before the climate becomes stable.

Renewable Energy Sources Have Plenty To Offer Each Of Us

Man’s over dependence on fossil fuels has brought about disastrous consequences.  Global warming and Climate Change have been directly attributed to the release of green house gases due to the use of coal, oil and gas. Non-renewable energy sources are not effective, and cost far more than they offer in benefits.

Renewable energy sources absolutely sustain life because they do not emit carbon-based warming and harmful substances into the atmosphere. Additionally, it helps the people live an economical life by not paying the monthly bills on home energy consumption anymore.

Do you want to know what are renewable energy sources and how you can use them to produce free electricity to run your home? The truth about global warming is that it is becoming a much more serious problem that is becoming very hard to deal with today. The main renewable energy sources are examined below.

Solar, wind, and water are renewable energy sources that are friendly to the environment. With awareness to the limits of our natural resources, practically everyone is considering renewable energy solutions.

Residential Solar Power

The residential solar power makes a difference to your family and the Earth where you live in. With the residential solar power at home, you will be able to cut-off some financial expenses.

Harnessing solar power may be extraordinarily affordable if the energy system is all homemade. The storage cells can be used to store the power made during daytime and this will be still in the position to run during night or at times of the blackout.

To successfully turn your home into a residential solar power you need to be situated to a place where there is plenty of sunlight. An open space area would be very feasible to generate more solar energy.

Residential Wind Energy

At present, wind energy is used in a few places to generate electricity, and the feasibility of more wide spread application of this use is being studied.

Wind may be used as a renewable energy source. The energy that can be generated out of the wind power generators is limitless. Unlike the typical energy source produced by private companies, wind energy provides a lifetime power that you need.

Bio Fuels

Bio-fuels are also a renewable energy sources. They have been around for a very long time however just lately, people are beginning to take notice. Liquid bio-fuel which is the one used in cars is a natural and renewable domestic fuel that can only be used for diesel engines.

This can be made from vegetable oils mostly soy and corn. In fact diesel engines were originally created to run on vegetable oil! The nice thing about bio-fuels is that they contains no petroleum, and they are nontoxic and biodegradable.

The fact that we have so many different types of renewable energy sources to choose from means we can use them to our benefit. Some people have already proven the use of renewable energy sources to be very effective that’s why this energy saving idea has been shared to many users nowadays.

An Overview of the Effects of Global Warming

It is important to understand the significance that global warming has on not only our earth, but our daily lives as well. It’s also important to understand the effects of global warming that our children and grandchildren will experience in the years to come if things continue the way they are now.

First, it’s important to understand that “Global Warming” is also known as the “Greenhouse effect”. Instead of a plastic or glass shield, the earth has around it a series of atmospheric gases consisting mostly of nitrogen and oxygen molecules. The earth is about 60 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than it would be if it didn’t have those atmospheric gases surrounding it. They keep the earth warm and protected from excess UV (Ultra Violet) rays from the sun. Once warmed, their molecules then radiate a portion of this heat energy back to earth, creating more warming on the surface of our planet. It is this radiation which causes atmospheric gases to move back to earth that scientists call the “greenhouse effect”.

Much debate in the last five years about the greenhouse effect has centered on interpreting temperature numbers generated at weather stations all over the world. The data from these thermometers are averaged and plotted in attempts to determine just how fast the earth has heated up since the measurements began. There is now no doubt the world is getting warmer. The thermometers show that the world is warmer now than at any time since the measurements started. The year 1990 was the hottest year in the last century. Together with 1991, the years of 1983, 1987, 1988, and 1989, have been measured to be the warmest 6 years in the last hundred years. 1991 was the second warmest year of the past century, perhaps due to the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo during that year. The ash from the volcano in the upper atmosphere blocks some sunlight to earth, and is expected to generate a temporary two or three year cooling effect. After that time, most ash particles will have settled back to earth, and most scientists expect to see the global warming trend continue.

According to scientists, we can with “99% confidence conclude that current temperatures represent a real warming trend rather than a chance fluctuation over the 30-year period.” Most scientists agree that the planet’s temperature has risen 0.5 degrees Celsius since 1900, and will continue to increase at an increasing rate. The environment is responding to this warming. For instance, a study of mountain plants in the Alps (Europe), shows that some cold-loving plants are starting to move to higher and cooler altitudes. That is a possible response to increasing temperatures. The global effects of the greenhouse effect cannot be directly predicted simply because we do not have enough knowledge in the subject. However, we have been able to draw direct connections between certain natural phenomenon that supports the idea that something is changing.

Global warming has great effect on crops and weather conditions around the world. The northern hemisphere contains more land area than the southern hemisphere, and conversely, a lower percentage of the world’s oceans. Since oceans absorb more heat than land areas, it is not surprising that most climate models predict faster heating over the northern hemisphere than the global average. In addition, models predict faster temperature increases at higher latitudes. If global warming trends continue, high temperatures everywhere in the US may reduce US agricultural productivity.

Northern continental areas are projected to have drier summer soils, due in part to earlier snow melts in the spring, and hotter, more cloudless summers, causing extensive evaporation of ground moisture. In addition, if the inland areas of the northern hemisphere are expected to receive less moisture, then, lake and river levels will be lower. Some reports predict the level of the Great Lakes will drop between 2 and 8 feet. River flows in the western US may be very vulnerable to increase temperatures expected as result of the greenhouse effect.
