Advantages of Solar Heating Panels

If you are looking for a way to lessen your carbon footprint, you should consider installing solar heating panels. These solar panels collect heat from the sun and can be used to provide your home with hot water or heat your home. Solar heating panels generally need to be installed on the southern-facing portion of your roof. This is because southern-facing roofs generally receive more sunlight.

There are three different types of solar heating panels – low temperature, medium temperature and high temperature. Low temperature heating panels are flat plates generally used to heat swimming pools. Medium temperature heating panels are also flat plates but more extensively used in commercial and residential areas. High temperature heating panels normally use lenses or mirrors.

While the savings in the long run will make installing solar heating panels worth it, there is a large upfront cost.

To help with this, many states offer tax exemptions, tax credits, or tax deductions for homes with solar energy systems. Before you install a solar heating system, make sure to research these tax advantages as this can help mitigate the upfront cost.

There are now do-it-yourself kits available on the internet for people who want to install solar water heating systems in their homes or businesses. Solar water heating system plans are available in the internet. However, hiring a professional can be less costly in the long run. Each house or business establishment has its own unique characteristics. Buying generic do-it-yourself kits may not work as well compared to hiring a professional.

Professionals know the best position to install the solar heating panels and can calculate how many your home needs based on square footage and other factors. This will lead to a more efficient system which will save you money over time.

Finding the right professional heating & air conditioning contractor to install your solar heating system can be difficult. Start by searching the internet for contractors near you. Most contractors will have a website. Look to see if they have a good explanation of green building techniques. If they do, it signifies that green building techniques are important to them and they encourage their customers to use them. You should also look to see if they have 24/7 emergency service. Having this emergency service signifies that customer service is important to them. After you have found some potential contractors, search review sites online to see if their other customers are satisfied with their work. Read the reviews instead of just looking at the star rating; that way you can see if any of the reviews are specifically related to solar heating panel installation.

Once you have found reputable contractors, you should get quotes from at least three different contractors and compare them. Generally these quotes are free, but you should ask while making the appointment to be sure. Once you have received the quotes, weigh the different prices against the perceived quality of the technician. If you felt that the technician who gave you the highest quote was indeed the best, you should go with them because it will probably save you money on repairs and such in the long run.

Advantages of Renewable Energy

Our main source of energy is fossil fuels which consist of coal, oil and gas. Fossil fuels are formed when organisms were buried and compacted in the soil for a long time. Since the fossil fuels can only be formed after a long time, it is considered as a non-sustainable energy. These fossil fuels have limited supply in the long term. Hence, it is necessary to have other alternatives sources of energy. We believe that renewable energy is the best choice of alternative energy because there are a lot advantages using renewable energy.

In my opinion, one of the main advantages of using renewable energy is that renewable energy is unlimited.  As an example, one of the most common and widely available renewable energy that we know is solar energy. Solar energy is powered by the sun and we know that the sun has been around in our universe since a long time ago and it will always shine for billions of years. So, as long as there is sun, solar energy can be used.  Another kind of renewable energy is ethanol. This energy can never run out as long as we can farm the plants which are harvested and then fermented to create the ethanol.

My second opinion on the advantages of renewable energy is that renewable energy is environmentally friendly. This is because, unlike fossil fuels, renewable energy such as solar energy and so on does not produce any product that disturbs the environment. Ethanol produces smaller concentration of green house gases such as carbon dioxide, but unlike fossil fuel that have been stored in the earth for millions of years, the pollution that ethanol create in the atmosphere is usually recycled when new plants are planted to create more ethanol thus, these plants will reabsorbed the green house gases such as the carbon dioxide it needs to grow. The use of fossil fuels has caused the increase of greenhouse gases in the air which cannot be recycled and may be in the atmosphere for hundreds to thousands of years before they decompose. Therefore, I think by using renewable energy, we can stop the increase of greenhouse gases in the air.

For my third opinion, another advantage is that the uses of renewable energy will create more jobs for people. Renewable energy has not been fully utilized by most country. Renewable energy power plants will require a lot of manpower to build and for maintenances to ensure the reliability of the power plant. Therefore, a lot of jobs opportunity will be available. A journalist from an online newspaper wrote that ” There would also be some 52,000 jobs created to construct, operate and maintain renewable energy power plants” Tan (2010) supports my opinion that a lot of jobs will be available if renewable energy power plant to be built.

As a conclusion, I strongly believe that renewable energy is the best alternative energy to replace fossil fuels as our main source of energy. This is because renewable energy is unlimited, environmental friendly and more jobs will be available to build and maintain the renewable energy power plant.

What is Solar Energy

This energy drives the climate and weather and supports virtually all life on Earth. Advantages of solar energy are solar energy is a renewable resource and not making a noise. It can extract energy from the sun without making a peep, solar energy is non-polluting, require very little maintenance (it have no moving parts that will need to be fixed) and it last a long time. Solar powered system is also very easy to install.

Disadvantages of solar energy are the amount of sunlight that arrives at the earth’s surface is not constant. It depends on location, time of day, time of year and weather conditions, because the sun doesn’t deliver that much energy to any one place at any one time, a large surface area is required to collect the energy at a useful rate, solar cells/panels can be very expensive, solar power cannot be created at night.
Solar energy can be divided into several types. Figure 1 shows the type of solar energy.

Figure 1: Type of Solar Energy

Active solar energy technology system is a term which refers to the direct use of solar energy to actively convert the energy in sunlight into other form. Active solar systems include photovoltaic, thermal and thermoelectric. Photovoltaic is a generation of electricity directly from sunlight, thermal is using solar-generated heat for heating purpose and thermoelectric is using solar generated heat to produce electricity.

Passive solar energy technology system is a broad category of solar power technique and strategies for regulating a building’s indoor air and domestic water temperature, using climate, site features, architectural elements and landscape materials. The goal is typically to increase the comfort, efficiency and reliability of a building, while reducing its operating costs and dependence on other sources of energy for heating and cooling. Passive solar techniques include direct gain, indirect gain and isolated gain. Direct gain which sunlight is allowed to pass directly through windows and/or skylights into the living spaces and to warm the air and surfaces there. Indirect gain which sunlight strikes an intervening material (eg water or a solid mass behind glass) and then arrives at the living spaces indirectly, after being captured, stored and re-released by that material. Isolated gain which solar heat is passively captured and stored in isolated places or devices and then only allowed to move passively into the actual living spaces when and if desired.

Direct passive solar energy technology system is also popularly called green design, sustainable design, eco-design or design for environment. Green design is the catch-all term for a growing trend within the fields of architecture, landscape architecture and engineering, building physics, industrial design and interior design. The essential aim is to produces places, products and services in a way that reduces use of non-renewable sources, minimizes environmental impact and relates people with the natural environment. Green design is often viewed as a necessary tool for achieving sustainability.

Indirect non-fossil is a term which refers to the use of energy from renewable sources that ultimately is derived from solar energy. Indirect non-fossil energy systems include biomass, hydro, wind and OTEC. Biomass is use of carbonaceous materials as fuel, hydro is use of moving water to generate power, wind is use of moving air to generate power and OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) is use of temperature differential.

Indirect fossil is a term which refers to the use of energy from hydrocarbon which is based sources that ultimately is derived from solar energy. Indirect fossil energy systems include, coal, natural gas, oil.

Go Green With Solar Inverter

Solar Inverters are one the latest and most energy saving power protection devices in the recent time. Basically, they are the electronic device which converts direct current (AC) to alternate current (AC) using solar energy. Solar energy is environment-friendly because it does not produce toxin, and is a renewable resource. The pace at which all our energy resources are diminishing day by day, the solar inverter can prove to be a fortunate thing in the long run.

Solar electric systems are composed of Solar Panels, Batteries and Inverters. Batteries play the role of storing the energy produced and are used mostly at night when there is no sunlight. The electrical device which will be connected will be getting power directly from these batteries. The inverter converts the DC energy of the batteries and into AC power that can be used at home. If the solar energy is exploited well then we would be heading to a better future positively.

There are two different types of solar inverter. The first type is called a True-sine-wave inverter which is very dependable and is the best choice for household equipments. The second type is Modified-sine-wave which is less costly than the previous one. Appliance like computers immediately converts AC power into DC, and so is perfect with Modified-sine-wave inverter. First and foremost, you need to be conscious of the course of action of the entire installing system, quality of the inverter and the total amount of voltage you need for your home. You should also check whether the solar inverter has passed all government standards and certifications. Many reliable companies are selling solar products now-a-days. It’s better to buy solar inverters from a reliable and trusted brand so that you get best vale for your money. Volta group specializes in delivering uninterrupted power supply. They are one of the full products that cover a wide range of power protection products which are admired across the country. The high quality Solar Inverter comprises of all the latest technology. How Solar Panels Can Power Your Home

There are many ways to power your home with solar panels and solar power kits. These systems can fit nearly any size home, demand, and space requirement. In this article we will discuss three different kinds of photovoltaic (PV) systems and the advantages and disadvantages of each.Off-Grid Solar Dependent Systems

These systems are usually found in extremely remote locations where electricity and fuel sources are hard to come by. These systems consist of:

* Solar panel array: a combination of solar panels that are sized according to the cabin’s electrical consumption. The higher the consumption of electricity, the larger and more expensive the array must be.

* Charge controller: this takes energy from the solar array and feeds it into the battery bank, while ensuring that the batteries are not over-charged (which would damage the batteries).

* Battery bank: this is specially designed to fit both the solar array and the needs of the home. For instance you might need a larger battery bank if the area you are in experiences frequent cloudy days. The battery bank would have to store several days worth of energy to account for lack of sunshine.

* Inverter: the solar panels and batteries produce DC power and most appliances require AC power. The inverter does the job of turning the DC power into AC power for your home.

Advantages

* These systems are great for remote cabins, cottages and villages. They allow people to live in areas where they would not normally be able to live. They also provide power to third world villages that would probably never have power otherwise.

* There is relatively little maintenance of this systems. The batteries will require the most attention and will have to be replaced before anything else.

* The cost of these systems, while not cheap, easily beat the costs of constructing a power line to remote areas 9 times out of 10.

Disadvantages

* There is no means of getting back up power should the system go down due to weather or malfunction.

Hybrid Solar-Generator Systems

Most often, off-grid solar installation are supplemented with a backup generator. This system has the same components, with the addition of these things:

* Generator: often powered by gas, oil, or propane, these units are essentially a combustion engine that turns an electric generator. This generates DC power that is fed into charge controller in the same fashion as PV power.

* Wind generator: these systems are gaining popularity for their ease of use, low maintenance, and low initial cost. They can be wired directly to the batteries in many cases as most of them have an internal charge controller. Some even have built in inverters so they can be tied into grid-tied homes directly.

* Micro-hydro: great for homes near flowing water, these systems have come a long way in the last few years. They can be tricky to install, as they consist of a turbine that is mounted in a river or stream. The water turns the turbine and generates electricity, which is fed into the charge controller.

Advantages

* These systems are ideal for off-grid, remote locations. They can be designed for varying weather conditions and consumption, and the homeowner has the added peace of mind knowing that there is a backup generator in case the sun doesn’t shine.

Disadvantages

* These systems require a reliable secondary fuel source, whether it be propane or wind. Often these things are hard to come by in remote areas.

* The increased complexity of the system can often make installation difficult.

* Maintenance is heavier on these systems since they usually involve gassing and oiling a combustion engine.

Grid-Tied Solar Systems

This by far the most popular PV system. Since the vast majority of homes in the US are connected to the electrical grid, this system probably makes the most sense for homeowners. The system can have batteries, but most often consists of the panel array, inverter, and several breakers and disconnects. The homeowner must also be aware of these items:

* Interconnection Agreement: this is a legal document from the power utility outlining the details of your grid-tied system. This will tell you how to tie it in and when they will inspect it.

* Net Metering: this allows you to sell your excess power back to the utility.

Advantages

* These systems are far simpler and easier to install than off-grid applications.

* The grid acts as the battery, so if the solar array goes down or the sun is down the grid will keep the lights on.

* The cost for these systems is lower since the batteries and charge controllers are not necessary.

* Excess power can be sold to the utility to offset the cost of the system.

* Utilities often have rebates and incentives for homeowners installing PV systems which can offset the cost of the system.

Disadvantages

* Obviously this is not an option for people that don’t have an electrical grid nearby.

The Solar Wave Is Coming

Well we are doing just that right now, the money that can be saved by harnessing this source is mind boggling, but that is just the tip of the iceberg, can you image the money to be made, and that’s what The Success Solar Group’s objective is all about, saving money and making money, we know how, were doing it right now, we want to share this knowledge with you, we want to show you how.

The sun is an abundant energy source that will last… well scientist’s say millions if not billions of years, so I’d say were covered for awhile.  The technology is coming out so fast, the government is being requested for patents at an alarming rate, and some patents have been classified. The point is the technology is right around the corner that will capture and store this energy and this will create a market that will be ripe for everyone on this planet to get aboard and save money, and more important make money.

For too long we have been playing this oil game and our country has been losing, losing to other countries that have no vested interest in The United States, well we do, and its our sovereign right to harness this source and We’ve all heard, many seen the 2012 movie, articles, hype, about the coming of 2012, I have seen the movies it was a lot of fun, solar storms erupting and sending cosmic radiation to earth etc etc.  But solar energy is real and there are a lot of companies out there developing way to harness that energy, just think of it, there’s a lot of free energy being poured out on this planet, the year is 2010 and we have not tapped this source yet?

use it to bettor our country and living standards, and who says we can’t make money too.

The Success Solar Group is doing just that, were proactive about taking advantage of the sun as a source of cheap energy and getting this country back to work again.  We understand the hardships of our fellow country men, how our country has taken a loss ever since we found ourselves at the losing end of the oil game, but that is over, it was innovation that made this country and we need to reclaim that edge.

People are starting to realize and are making the changes necessary to make they’re homes and businesses solar efficient with solar systems, solar panels, solar service.

Photovoltaic Part Of The New Wave

Photovoltaics (PV) is a method of generating electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity using semiconductors that exhibit the photovoltaic effect. Photovoltaic power generation employs solar panels comprising a number of cells containing a photovoltaic material. Materials presently used for photovoltaics include monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, cadmium telluride, and copper indium selenide/sulfide. Due to the growing demand for renewable energy sources, the manufacture of solar cells and photovoltaic arrays has advanced considerably in recent years.

As of 2010, solar photovoltaics generates electricity in more than 100 countries and, while yet comprising a tiny fraction of the 4800 GW total global power-generating capacity from all sources, is the fastest growing power-generation technology in the world. Between 2004 and 2009, grid-connected PV capacity increased at an annual average rate of 60 percent, to some 21 GW. Such installations may be ground-mounted (and sometimes integrated with farming and grazing) or built into the roof or walls of a building, known as Building Integrated Photovoltaics or BIPV for short. Off-grid PV accounts for an additional 3–4 GW.

Driven by advances in technology and increases in manufacturing scale and sophistication, the cost of photovoltaics has declined steadily since the first solar cells were manufactured. Net metering and financial incentives, such as preferential feed-in tariffs for solar-generated electricity, have supported solar PV installations in many countries.

Here Are A Few Of The Practical Advantages Of Utilizing Photo Voltaic Driven Lighting

Make use of solar garden lights to make out of doors places better as well as safer which includes steps as well as car parking places. It’s low priced, eco-friendly and does not look half bad either. People are generally deciding on solar power for out-of-doors electrical uses, considering that it is economical not to mention easy to set up.

Quite A Few Variations Of Solar Lights To Choose From: At this time there are numerous different styles of photovoltaic lighting fixtures available on the market. Contemplate acquiring spot lights, ground stakes, solar power landscaping lights or hanging solar lights. Quite a few come with battery packs that will run off of pv power and set up is basic. One choice is to get lighting and run them off a standalone Pv panel.

Generally there are a number of actions that an individual will have to take so it may well take a number of supplementary minutes to absolutely put them in.Very simple For you to Mount:Adding solar power garden lights is definitely a piece of cake. Mainly because it is not really necessary to dig in order to help lay electric cables, the lawn will stay intact. You’re going to love the very low price ranges as well as the ease with which people can certainly set up the devices. It only calls for a matter of minutes to set up the lighting fixtures.

Typically the lights must obtain great sun exposure all day. It may perhaps be wise to store them inside in the event that it snows often through the wintertime months. It’s Substantially Cleaner Energy And People Can Save Capital:When employing solar electricity, electricity costs can easily be reduced. The photovoltaic effect or PV effect is the power resource utilized by photo voltaic energy. The electricity is kept and charged inside the battery pack as soon as it pulls in the sunlight. The saved electricity subsequently makes its way into the bulb by the connecting lead. For the most part, solar power lights make use of LED lamps. LED bulbs survive a longer period as well as give vibrant, even illumination. Photo voltaic LED’s shine truly as brilliant as electric LED bulbs. Solar lighting will certainly save on power, are cost efficient, and demand nominal servicing for the homeowner when positioned on their property.

Most Typical Climate Problem:Exactly how much sun would an individual require in order to charge the batteries for ones solar power garden? Pv batteries require just a few hours of direct natural light in order to re-charge again, based upon just how large or small they tend to be. A person may well prefer to shop for a light fixture to be able to test if the climatic conditions aren’t really good at all times during the calendar year. The large majority of areas have a few hours of sunshine which facilitates batteries to be recharged.

Solar Hot Water

Success Solar Group is dedicated to helping people solve they’re energy needs, the Success Solar Group knows that in order to get this country back on its feet, we need to get off the oil addiction we have with the Middle East, we have the ability and technology to move from a fossil fuel to high technology source with an abundance that is totally unlimited, free, clean and covers the whole planet.

We have been at the mercy of foreign countries, greedy corporations far too comfortable in the status quo, and at a price that has cost America jobs and a standard of living that flourished as little as 30 years ago. As a country we have set the bar for the last 150 years, we did it by innovation, hard work and the spirit of the people, we need to reclaim what we built and show the world a new Phoenix.

Solar energy has the ability to power our homes including hot water, the internet, our cars, our appliances – Everything!

We have had the technology for awhile now and we have not taken advantage of it, were too immersed in our status quo, we need to shake ourselves and take action. Oil is a finite source of energy, the sun is infinite, we don’t have to dig, drill, mine for this energy, it comes to us.

Photovoltaics

Photovoltaics (PV) is a method of generating electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity using semiconductors that exhibit the photovoltaic effect. Photovoltaics is just one of the many new solar powered systems that has been developed, another system is…Organic photovoltaic devices (OPVs) are fabricated from thin films of organic semiconductors, such as polymers and small-molecule compounds, and are typically on the order of 100 nm thick. Because polymer based OPVs can be made using a coating process such as spin coating or inkjet printing, they are an attractive option for inexpensively covering large areas as well as flexible plastic surfaces. A promising low cost alternative to silicon solar cells, there is a large amount of research being dedicated throughout industry and academia towards developing OPVs and increasing their power conversion efficiency. These are just a few the technologies in the works right now, we had solar power panels a long time, we need to incorporate them more consistently and over a much larger area, they should be mandatory with all new construction. Many large corporations like Google, IBM and others have installed they’re own energy systems to supply power to they’re facilities, and this is a trend that is growing by leaps and bounds. Its time as Americans to join together and rebuild our energy systems that will affect our environment, economy and our spirits, what say you America!

New York Solar Incentives

In 1997, the State of New York enacted a New York Solar Tax Credit for individuals to retrofit residential property and multi-family property with solar systems.

New York homeowners are eligible for a personal tax credit of up to 25% for the cost of solar system equipment and installation for solar PV systems and solar thermal systems. The maximum incentive for solar energy systems is ,000.

System sizes cannot exceed 10kW for residential solar PV systems while properties owned by condominium or cooperative housing associations are allowed up to 50kW per solar PV system.

If the tax credit exceeds your taxable liability, it may be carried-forward for the next five tax years.

To take advantage of this personal tax credit, solar PV systems must meet the New York net metering law which limits photovoltaic systems to 10kW. However the law was expanded in August 2008 with S.B. 7171 allowing for net-metering on residential photovoltaic (pv) systems up to 25kW. The state has not clarified whether or not the new net-metering law limits can be applied to this personal tax credit for solar-electric systems.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) also offers rebates to photovoltaic installers. This NYSERDA solar incentive is equal to .75/watt DC subject to shading, system orientation, tilt angle, and other derates to performance. No eligible system size has been specified and production output may not exceed 110% of the required annual energy load. The maximum NYSERDA solar incentive amounts and system capacities are as follows:

Residential: ,750, 5kW

Non-residential: 2,500, 50kW

Non-profit, government, schools: ,250, 25kW

There are also local options to help property owners install solar. Solar systems have a 100% property tax exemption up to 15 years. Another local option is a Municipal Sustainable Energy Program where property owners use Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing to pay for renewable energy upgrades. In July 2005, New York made all sales and installations of residential solar-energy systems 100% exempt from the state sales tax and use tax.

The State of New York will benefit from distributed energy sources. By distributing energy sources, it promotes energy security and eventually energy independence (with the installation of renewable energy). With the New York Solar Tax Credit for individuals and other incentive programs, New York is well on their way to meeting their renewable energy goals.
