International interest in the Spanish photovoltaic market

The potential of solar photovoltaics industry to attract investments around the world seems hard to match. Conscientized society with climate change and financial markets hungry for alternatives to the property sector, investors are looking up to the sun of Spain. Because, as noted by Edwin Koot, president of consultant SolarPlaza, the Spanish PV market opportunities are “unbeatable.”

“This market is considered as one of the main world,” says Koot. The arguments for investors are several “remuneration framework stable long term, a country with an equally stable growth. And much sun, of course. SolarPlaza is undertaken to try to marry the supply and demand in the photovoltaic market for its international clients. “Often, even advice to U.S. venture capital firms on the Spanish solar market situation,” says Koot.

As a global platform, SolarPlaza receives requests for appeal service supply and demand of some investors with investment plans in Spain. “Most large investors seeking projects over 1 MW and a return on investment above 10%.” The consulting firm notes that investors are not only looking projects already under construction, but also enter the initial stages of projects to help the developers to cover the entire development process.

Moreover, a large number of Spanish companies are currently developing solar farms. “Obtaining licenses is the most complicated aspect of the process, since this can only be managed by Spanish companies,” points out Koot. “However, for a market that is still far from reaching the government target, the bureaucratic process must stop being an obstacle.”
