One of highly recommended place to visit during your travel time is Key West Island. This is the name of its city too. Why did I recommend this travel spot? If you continue reading this article, there will be no argue at all that my view for this island is clearly true.
This island regarded as the southernmost part of United States continental that can be accessed by civilian. Key West is a part of California State, located in the Straits of Florida. Because of its location as the southernmost part, Key West is much near to Havana, Cuba than to its state’s capital Miami, Florida.
There are a lot of travel destinations and things to do in this island. Have you ever dream about swimming with docile dolphins? If you ever, then this island can be regard the best place for you to make your dream comes true. It has a very beautiful reef around, with a relatively low tide, so some water sport available for your entertainment. Lots of water sports available, such as snorkeling, diving, jet skiing, kayaking, fishing, and even parasailing. You can also feel the romantic sunset at some marinas. Some notable places to do these are Sebago, Key Largo, reefs around Key West, and Stock Island (nearby island).
Some historical and unique heritages are lying in many places of the island.
Key West AIDS Memorial – This memorial built to remembering the tragedy that happened to thousands of Key West citizens, and caused the death for some of them because of AIDS epidemic.
Key West City Cemetery -This cemetery becomes popular because of its unique diversity of burial customs, and also some unusual grave inscriptions.
Southernmost Point – This is the monument to pinpoint the fact that this island located in the southernmost part.
Shipwreck Museum – It is not just a common ship-wreck related museum, but it also become a great place to see a panoramic view of almost every part of the island because of its observation tower’s highness.
Ernest Hemingway House – This is the place where the legendary writer, Ernest Hemingway, lived and wrote for decades.
Don’t forget to schedule your time to visit this place correctly. Some great festivals held here, and only take for some days of the year. Let see the Lobsterfest for example. This festival is a beautiful moment for everyone who love sea foods, especially lobster, but only took a week in the whole years (usually the first week of August).
