Acciona invests 220 million Euros in the plant Nevada Solar One, the largest built in the last 15 years, and the third largest in the world.
Construction began on 11 February 2006 and is expected to begin producing electricity by the middle of this year. The plant in the Nevada desert, in the hamlet of Eldorado Valley, Boulder City term, covers an area of 140 hectares and consists of 760 parabolic trough collectors and 19,300 solar receivers high-power technology group Schott. These collectors focus sunlight with mirrors on receiving tubes through which a fluid that is heated to 400 º C. This fluid is used to produce steam and moving some turbines connected to a generator that produces electricity.
The 64 MW power plant will generate 129,000 MWh / year to supply electricity to more than 40,000 homes.
